Morning C, Night A: The Ultimate Guide to Glowing Skin with All About Alicia’s Elixir Collection

Have you heard of the term "Morning C, Night A"?
This skincare philosophy refers to using Vitamin C in the morning and AHA or Retinol at night. Let's explore why this approach works wonders for your skin:
Morning Routine: Vitamin C
Using Vitamin C in your morning skincare routine offers numerous benefits. As a powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C protects your skin from environmental agressors such as UV rays, pollution, and free radicals. By neutralizing these harmful agents, Vitamin C helps prevent skin damage throughout the day.
When combined with sunscreen, Vitamin C amplifies your skin's defense against UV damage. Though it doesn't replace sunscreen, it works hand-in-hand to shield your skin, keeping it safe from premature aging and sun exposure.
Beyond protection, Vitamin C brightens your complexion. It reduces the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and dullness, resulting in a radiant, even-toned glow throughout the day. Its collagen-boosting properties also help maintain firmness and reduce fines and wrinkles, making it an anti-aging powerhouse.
Incorporating Vitamin C in your morning routine provides a proactive shield against environmental stress while supporting skin health and vitality.
Night Routine: Salicylic Acid
Salicylic Acid, a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) is a more gentle alternative to AHA and Retinol, is best used at night due to its deep-cleansing abilities. It penetrates pores, exfoliates dead skin cells, and clears blackhead and acne. Applying it at night allows it to work effectively during your skin's natural repair cycle.
Since Salicylic Acid can increase sun sensitivity, using it at night prevents the risk of irritation or sunburn during the day. It also helps reduce excess oil and unclog pores, preventing breakouts while you sleep - leading to clearer skin by the morning.
As nightime is when your skin focuses on regeneration, Salicylic Acid's anti-inflammatory properties and acne-fighting effects are maximised, helping you wake up with less redness and irritation.
By using Salicylic Acid at night, you achieve smoother, clearer skin while protecting it from sun's harmful rays.
My Current Routine
Here's a glimpse into my personal skincare routine, which has been a journey to balance and healthier skin.
Morning Routine:
- Cleanse face
- Spray Rose Water
- Apply Hyaluronic Acid to lock in moisture
- Thinly apply C+AA (Vitamin C + Alpha Arbutin)
- Fiinsh with Every Day Sunblock
I prefer to use Tinted Serum (re-launching soon) and not Every Day Face Gel more for vanity reason. As Tinted Serum has some shade of color and coverage with Licorice Extract, that made me look slightly better without makeup. If I am going out, I add DD Cream (re-launching soon) and top it off with loose powder.
Night Routine
- Cleanse face
- Spray Rose Water
- Apply Hyaluronic Acid
- Follow with Niacinamide + Salicylic Acid and then Argireline Solution
- Finish with Every Day Oil and Every Day Face Gel
A Journey to Good Skin
I've had extremely sensitive skin since childhood, so I've always leaned towards mild, safe skincare. Over the years, I've learned that achieving good skin is a slow, steady journey, built one step at a time. If any products promises instant results, think twice - it's probably too good to be true. Like building wealth, good skin takes time, patience and consistency.
