What's Actually Inside Our New Probiotic + Rice Ferment with Oats Repair Mask?
Jul 18,2026 | allaboutalicia
We know you read ingredients lists. (We do too - its basically a hobby at this point.) So before our newest mask launches, we thought we'd pull back the curtain and walk you through exactly what's inside, why we chose each ingredient, and what it's going to do for your skin.

First, the star of the show - Lactobacillus/Rice Ferment Filtrate
Yes, that's the priobiotic in "Probiotuc + Rice Ferment". And no, it's not yoghurt (though we understand the confusion after the face scrub incident)
Lactobacillus/Rice Ferment Filtrate is what you get when beneficial bacteria ferment rice - the fermentation process breaks down the rice into smaller, more bioavailable molecules that your skin can actually absorb and use. Think of it as rice, but upgraded.
What does it do?
- Repairs your skin barrier - probiotics help to restore your skin's natural microbiome, which is your first line of defence against environmental stressors.
- Brightens - fermented rice has long been used in Asian skincare traditions for its skin-evening properties.
- Reduces redness and sensitivity - bu balacing the skin's microbiome, it calms reactive and irritated skin over time.
This is the kind of ingredient gthat works quietly in the background, making everything else perform better. We love it for that.
Oat Extract (Avena Sativa) - the comfort ingredient
If your skin had a comfort, it would be oats. Oat extract is one of the most well-researched soothing ingredients in skincare - its clinically proven to calm irritation, reduce itching and strengthen the skin barrier.
Combined with probiotic ferment, these two work as a team, the probiotics rebalance, the oats soothe. For anyone with sensitive, stressed or reactive skin, this pairing is genuinely one of the gentlest and most effective combinatione we could put in a mask.
And yes - just like Every Day Scrub - we love an ingredient you can actually picture. Oats. Real, honest, wholesome oats.
Acetyl Hexapeptides-8 (Argireline) - the peptide you don't usually see in masks
Here's where this mask gets a little extra.
Argireline is a peptide most commonly found in serums and eye creams - it's known as the "topical Botox" (though we never make that claim on packaging!) because it works by relaxing the facial muscles that cause expression lines. Fine lines from smiling, squinting, frowning - Argireline targets exactly those.
Finding it in a sheet mask is genuinely rare. We included it because we believe a mask should do more than just hydrate - it should actively treat. Every 15 minutes masking session is an opportunity, and Argireline makes the most of it.
Sodium Hyaluronate + Squalane - the hydration duo
You've probably seen Hyaluronic Acid everywhere. Sodium Hyaluronate is its smaller, more penetrating cousin - it goes deeper into the skin to deliver moisture where it counts.
Squalane complements it perfectly. Where Sodium Hyaluronate pulls water into the skin, Squalane locks it in, forming a lightweight barrier that prevents moisture loss without feeling heavy or greasy. Together, they give you that "just-masked" plumpness that lasts well beyond the 15 minutes you spend wearing it.
Trehalose + Allantoin - the sensitivity saviours
These two don't always get the spotlight, but they deserve it - especially if you have sensitive or compromised skin.
Trehalose is a natural sugar that acts as a moisture magnet, drawing water to the skin and holding it there even in dry or air-conditioned environments (hello, Singapore offices). It also has protective properties that help shield skin cells from stress.
Allantoin is the healing ingredient. It promotes skin cell turnover, soothes irritation and speeds up the skin's natural repair process. It's the reason this mask is called a Repair Mask - Allantoin is doing the heavy lifting on that front.
Snow Lotus (Saussurea Involucrata) Extract - our hero botanical
We saved the most interesting one for last.
If you grew up watching Chinese Wuxia dramas, you already know 天山雪莲 (Tianshan Snow Lotus) - it's that ingredient. The one the hero spends three episodes risking his life to harvest from treacherous icy cliff, because it's the only thing that can save the dying damsel!
Dramatic? Absolutely. But here's the thing - the dramas weren't entirely wrong.
Snow Lotus grows in extreme, unforgiving conditions of the Tianshan Mountains - high altitude, freezing temperatures, intense UV exposure. To survive where almost nothing else can, it has developed extraordinary adaptive properties: Powerful antioxidants, anti-infammatory compounds, and remarkable cellular resilience. In skincare, those same survival mechanisms translate into powerful anti-aging, brightening and skin-resilience benefits.
It's still a rare ingredient in modern formulations - not many brands use it, which is exactly why we wanted it in this mask. Because your skin deserves the ingredient that even a wuxia hero would climb a mountain for.
So who is this mask for?
Honestly? Most people. But it was formulated with these skin types especially in mind:
- Sensitive or reactive skin that needs calming alongside treatment.
- Skin showing early signs of aging - fine lines, loss of firmness, dullness.
- Anyone whose skin barrier is compromised - from over-exfoliation, stress, climate or lifstyle.
- Skincare enthusiasts who want their mask to actually do something beyond basic hydration.
When is it launching?
Very soon. We'll be sharing more details, if you are our Inner Circle member, you will get the gift pack of masks from us first.
In the meantime, if you have questions about the ingredients or want to know if this mask is right for your skin type, drop us a message.
